Zwift vs Real Streets

Zwift offers polished virtual worlds, social events, and racing. Real-road apps offer either continuous filmed routes or map imagery from actual places.

Virtual world

Best for smooth graphics, group rides, and game mechanics. Road is designed rather than photographed.

Filmed real road

ROUVY, FulGaz, and Kinomap center real footage. Motion is continuous, but route choice depends on catalog.

Google Street View road

VirtualRide and other Street View cycling tools let riders choose broadly from covered roads. They are flexible but imagery can jump and coverage is uneven.

Pick Zwift for racing and community. Pick filmed road for video. Pick Street View when actual address or road matters most.
